Grateful

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I have to say I have been feeling a bit down especially since having the flu for a whole week. Then that time of the month came where all I want to do is watch movies and eat all the chocolate; needless to say I have not been very motivated to do anything.Β Today I realized I had to get out of this slump so I made myself a coffee, did a bit of yoga, and talked with God a bit.

With little motivation I am writing this blog. I am not going to pretend that everything is okay inside my little brain, but I am going to make myself feel better the only way I know how.

Some years ago I read a book called ‘Wherever You Go, There You Are’ by Jon Kabat- Zinn, this book changed my life. To make a long story short, this book taught me to live in the present moment and to live gratefully for all the things that I have- no matter the circumstances. It made a powerful impact on the way I viewed my life, and now whenever I feel down I go back to my center to focus solely on the things I am grateful for. This is what I am doing today.

Wherever You Go There You Are

I am Grateful for…

-God

-Waking up in a bed

-Having a hot shower

-My Boyfriend

-Having coffee

-Being able to move my body

-Yoga

-Having clean clothes

-Health

-Being able to eat

-The nature that surrounds my home

-Having people that love me around me

-Family

-My cat

-My Dog

-My eyes

-My ears

-Music

-Being safe

-My life

-My journey

-The good moments

-The bad moments

My list could go on forever, I could write what I am grateful for- for hours. The fact that I am able to even write this is something to be grateful for, I instantly feel better. Knowing that I have a lot to be grateful for makes me feel a billion times myself again.

I encourage you to get a piece of paper an write down all the things you are grateful for until you make yourself feel better, do this for a few days and you will feel better I promise. You will realize that what you worry about is simply nothing.
